Can we talk about breakfast for a sec?
Something I hear on the regular — “I’m just not hungry in the mornings.”
So you skip breakfast, grab a coffee (maybe two), and by the time you realize you’re hungry, it’s 11am or worse..
Super common
But also… not great for your body.
Here’s why this matters — especially for women in our 40s, 50s, and 60s.
When you skip breakfast, your cortisol (stress hormone) stays high, your blood sugar dips, and your body basically thinks, “We’re running on empty — better slow everything down.”
That means low energy, brain fog, and those afternoon cravings that hit like a truck.
It also makes it harder to build lean muscle and keep your hormones balanced — and both of those are huge when it comes to losing fat, feeling strong, and having the energy to keep up with, well… life.
So what do you do when you’re just not hungry in the mornings?
You don’t have to force a full meal right away — start small.
Here’s a few ideas to build your morning appetite back up:
• Start with something light and easy. Even half a banana with a little nut butter or Greek yogurt can signal to your body, “Hey, it’s breakfast time.”
• Try a protein coffee. I love the one from Dr. Stacy Sims — she mixes her protein powder right into her morning coffee. It’s creamy, quick, and actually fuels your body instead of running it on fumes. Check out the Recipe HERE
• Be consistent. Eat something around the same time each morning, even if it’s small. Your body will start expecting fuel and those hunger cues will kick back in.
• Avoid the late-night snacks. If you eat big meals or snacks late, your appetite naturally blunts in the morning. Try wrapping up dinner a bit earlier and see if it helps.
You don’t have to go from coffee-only to a full-on omelet overnight.
Just start by giving your body a little something in the morning — you’ll be amazed how much more energy, focus, and patience (yes, patience) you have through the day.
Trust me, you’ll feel the difference — and your hormones will thank you too.
